An inspirational
family story.
In the late 1970s, our founder Geoff (Eugenio) Costabile was supporting his young family by making and installing flyscreens on the outskirts of Melbourne.
Geoff had a gut instinct that demand for made-to-measure aluminium fly screens was only going to increase. In 1981, with a $2000 loan from his brother-in-law, Geoff established E C Aluminium with little more than a truck, some tools and fly wire. With small ads in the local newspaper; “$9 per flyscreen, measured and fitted on site”, a new business was born.
By 1985, the family business had begun its expansion into windows and doors after Geoff established a partnership with leading window manufacturer Trimview Windows & Doors. From there, he established his first factory and the business expanded into window manufacturing, window replacements, glazing and shower screens.
The Costabile's trips to Europe allowed them keep up with European window trends, seeing firsthand the design, energy efficiency and functionality of European window systems. It made sense to bring the technology and hardware to Australia, thereby combining the highest quality European hardware with Australian manufacturing, ensuring the finished product is tailored to Southern Hemisphere conditions.
In 2012, the company became known as Thermeco and has evolved to become the exclusive distributor of Europe’s two best window makers – Secco, Europe’s leading manufacturer of steel and brass windows and doors; and KELLER that produces exceptional minimal window systems. Thermeco has also established a network of licencees across Australia and New Zealand that exclusive produce Thermeco ranges under license.
From these humble beginnings, Thermeco has become a benchmark for delivering Australian and European advanced window systems with product ranges that offer the perfect balance of practicality, beauty and efficiency.
As a mark of its commitment to continuously improving the energy efficiency and performance of its window systems, as well as meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, Thermeco became a registered B Corp in April 2024.
